My son was born 2 days before your daughter and I could not even imagine going through something like this. You guys are very strong parents and that little girl is blessed. I will keep little Kiira and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers.

I originally saw your story on Yahoo and it was a very hard story to get through. I then came to this page and saw pictures of your beautiful baby girl, and saw how much you are trusting in God to heal Kiira. I do not have any children right now, but I don’t know how I would be able to handle what you go through on a daily basis. You are truly a strong woman of God. Keep believing and trusting in God because it will happen. I will keep you and your family in my prayers, and remember God will never give us more than we can handle.
    Happy Holidays and God bless.

My daughter also has a very rare skin condition called lamellar ichthyosis, which causes her to have scaly skin that peels and cracks leaving open sores.. I have found the resources available through FIRST (Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types) extremely helpful. There website can be found by typing in scalyskin in google. If you use Aquaphor there is a program available where they will send you 12 tubs of aquaphor free of charge every three months. Just call the 1-800 number on the tub and ask for information. Good luck. Our daughter is 16 and even though she has had many, many staph infections, and is constantly in pain she has friends, participates in school, and is looking forward to college. I know that seems impossible right now but children are remarkable adaptable and overcome more that any adult thinks they could or should have to.

I just wanted to say how much reading your story touched me. I have a one year old son and am pregnant with my second; I cannot even imagine the heartache that you must be going through. Since reading the yahoo story two days ago I still see those little blistered fingers, and it brings me to tears. I am praying for your sweet little Kiira and your family.

That is FACT!… I pray that this awful disease goes completely AWAY and never returns again! Also, that she is able to live a normal life ( all of you) and that you are able to do all the things im sure you have planned for your family! Keep us updated!
