Day +14: The past few days have been fine. Kiira is throwing up in the mornings and she gets a little feverish here and there, and tonight was the first time she looked sickly to me, but still playful during the day. She has some bald patches now too. Her white blood cell count went up to 0.1, but it could go up and down for awhile. Once it’s 0.5 for 3 days in a row and Kiira is fever-free, we can be discharged from the hospital. Last year at day +14, was the day we got discharged and never readmitted, so I had hoped it would be similar this time around, but I’m still ok being in here and with a day-to-day outlook, it’s not so bad. Every BMT is different and you just have to roll with it.
Today Kiira had physical therapy and a sweet new friend brought lunch. I miss my social life at home, but the past few days I’ve been spoiled! I had a great weekend seeing several families from the EB/BMT community. A couple of them were here with us last year and it brought back a lot of memories for all of us. It was fun staying up late chatting, eating cookies at 1am, like I was in college again. Having this close knit family, is really special. I’m so glad you all came to visit!
Thank you for your continued prayers!
